The Final Exam
Webcore Games, in partnership with DRUID Creative Gaming and Flutu Music, developed a game for the new campaign of the Change the Ref NGO and Energy BBDO Chicago, launching a survival game aimed at raising awareness about gun violence in the United States. Titled “The Final Exam”, the game challenges players to survive a school shooting and aims to educate gamers about the harsh reality of mass shootings in the U.S., encouraging them to promote real changes to combat this issue and support legislation that strengthens gun control in the country.
The campaign seeks to reach different audiences, from Generation Z to Baby Boomers, including parents, students, and activists. In the game, participants must find ways to escape from a school during a shooting, with scenarios recreated based on real data from past incidents.
Elements such as sounds, alarms, and objects left behind were carefully recreated to immerse players in the reality of shootings. While exploring the environment, players encounter factual information hidden in books and on boards, providing data about the frequency and impact of these events in U.S. schools.
The game aims to inform people outside the gun violence prevention movement about simple actions that can save lives, exposing players to basic policy measures that can have a real impact. Throughout the experience, five legislative proposals are presented to educate about the importance of gun control and encourage political action. To survive and escape the school in the game, players must collect all the laws, which include:
• Assault Weapons Ban;
• Safe Storage (Ethan’s Law);
• High-Capacity Magazine Ban;
• Universal Background Checks for All Gun Sales;
• Raising the Minimum Purchase Age.
“The Final Exam” was developed for computers and will soon be available for download on the Steam platform. Learn more here: https://www.thefinalexam.us/
